I am a traditional practitioner of Acupuncture working from a multi-disciplinary wellbeing centre in Leicestershire.
I have trained with the renowned Acupuncture Academy in Leamington Spa and gained Professional Licentiate in Acupuncture, which is a three-year degree qualification accredited by the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board and the Professional Standards Authority.
Leamington has a rich history of acupuncture and my training was extensive, covering Chinese medicine and acupuncture theory with a focus on the Five Element approach, alongside Western biomedicine to understand body systems and the conditions our patients suffer from.
Five Element Acupuncture treats the individual holistically whilst taking into account all signs of imbalance within the body, addressing symptoms at the root. This is what makes Five Element Acupuncture particularly effective when dealing with a wide range of illnesses and multi-system conditions.
I feel patients deserve time, which is something of a rare commodity today. Healing starts with listening to what patients really need. I will take a full case history taking into account physical and emotional symptoms, both past and present, which helps me to create a bespoke treatment plan for my patients.
I see people for many conditions and symptoms such as:
- Musculoskeletal issues & chronic pain
- Headaches & migraines
- Addiction issues: smoking, alcohol & food
- Sleep issues: insomnia, sleep apnoea, restless legs
- Hormonal issues: menopause issues, menstrual issues & fertility
- Pregnancy support: Nausea, reflux & heartburn, carpal tunnel, aches, anxiety & breach baby turning
- Hayfever and allergies
- Digestive issues: IBS & Crohn's disease
- Chronic fatigue & fibromyalgia
I have a special interest in
mental and emotional health including stress, anxiety and depression, especially grief and bereavement support, cancer and supportive end of life care.
Alongside Traditional acupuncture, I am also qualified in Moxibustion, Cupping, Gua-sha and Tu Nai massage and use these additional tools in treatment when appropriate.
As a member of the British Acupuncture Council I adhere to the Council’s Codes of Safe Practice and Professional conduct. British Acupuncture Council members are also registered with the Professional Standards Authority which is a government body set up to regulate health and social care providers, and is accountable to Parliament.
Rowan Acupuncture is licensed by Market Harborough County Council and I hold full medical malpractice and public/products liability insurance cover. Idyllic Wellbeing Clinic is 10 minute drive from Leicester, although it is classed as Harborough District.
Tui Na massage is a form of therapeutic massage rooted in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).
"Tui Na" loosely translates to "push and hold" or "press and knead" in Mandarin, reflecting the core techniques used in this practice.
This type of massage is designed to restore balance to the body's energy (Qi), improve circulation, and relieve muscle tension.
Tui Na massage is not just physical—it’s believed to address emotional and energetic imbalances. You might feel a sense of mental clarity or calmness after your session.
Key features of Tui Na massage:
What to Expect
During: A mix of relaxation and a “good pain” as tight areas are worked on. Often described as a warming, tingling sensation in the areas being treated, linked to the release of Qi blockages.
After:
Many patients report feeling lighter, more relaxed, and energised. Some mild soreness might occur, especially if areas of tension were deeply
worked on.
